In an exclusive arrangement with the renowned environmental artist Wyland, National Van Lines has created a new full-coverage decal design for 48′ – 53′ trailers. Commemorating the Wyland Ocean Challenge, the trailer design depicts a pod of humpback whales in their ocean environment. In a special collage of children’s artwork, the back of the trailer is a colorful pictorial message for the next generation. The trailer was unveiled at National Van Lines 2000 Agent Convention in Chicago, IL, at a special hospitality event appropriately held at the world famous Shedd Aquarium. Mike Mayo, on of National’s Drivers of the Year, has been asked to haul the prototype trailer.
National Van Lines has been a corporate sponsor of the Wyland Whaling Walls Tour since the early 1990s and in recognition, Wyland hand-painted original murals on each side of the trailer dedicated to the tour. This year, in appreciation of National’s sponsorship participation in the Ocean Challenge, a massive educational campaign that blended science and the arts in the hope of fostering an appreciation of the ocean’s environmental value, Wyland designed the new decal.
Agents will be invited to participate in the decal program based on their quality ratings and standing in the agency family. Those selected will be furnished with a tri-fold brochure explaining the relationship between Wyland and National. A joint press kit is being prepared with the Wyland Foundation, which will include some fun activities for school children, including a “Name the Whales” contest.
