Pat Johnson Promoted To President, National Forwarding Company

Pat Johnson President of National Van LinesMaureen Beal, CEO, National Van Lines has announced the promotion of Pat Johnson to President of National Forwarding Company. “National is honored to have a man of Pat’s caliber leading this division. His strategic vision, loyalty, work ethic and “can-do” attitude serves as the driving force behind the Forwarding Company’s success.”

Patrick was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Lewis University and a Juris Doctor Degree from Northern Illinois University College of Law. He has been a member in good standing of the Illinois Bar Association since 1980.

Pat began his career with National Van Lines in 1977 as an independent claims adjuster for its wholly owned subsidiary, National Forwarding Co. while he was in law school. In 1978, he was hired full time to establish National Forwarding Co.’s Claims and Customer Service Department. In 1980, he was promoted to General Manager of National Forwarding Co., its Vice President & General Manager and a Corporate Vice President for National Van Lines in 1985, and in 2000 Executive Vice President of National Van Lines.

Since taking over as General Manager in 1980, Pat has expanded the scope of National Forwarding Company’s services and agent network. Military representation has increased ten-fold, and quality scores are at an all-time high.

Under Pat’s leadership, National Claims Service has expanded its client base to include over 40 different clients, and continues to attract new business through effective claims handling, processing and cost savings.

National Van Lines’ International Division became the responsibility of National Forwarding Company in 2000, and since that time has grown revenues 162%. Building on the expertise gained in servicing international military shipments, the International Division is working on increasing Private Transferee and National Account business, and has recently been selected to service international shipments for the Department of State.

A successful partner in the various military pilot programs designed to better serve military member relocations; National Forwarding was recognized as one of the top performers in the Re-Engineering Pilot Program as well as the Full-Service Moving Project. NFC looks forward to serving under the soon-to-be-implemented “Families First Program.”

According to Pat Johnson, the credit for National Forwarding Company’s success deserves to be shared. “I don’t consider this to be a promotion for me personally; it is for National Forwarding Company as a whole. NFC has grown and prospered because of the dedication, hard work, and skill of our employees. If I deserve credit for anything it is for nurturing a customer service driven culture and putting together a team, keeping it together and then getting out of their way and letting them do their job.”

Pat and his wife, Barbara, live in Naperville, IL with their four children. Pat and Barbara’s outside interests include the various extracurricular and sporting activities that their children participate in.
