How Should I Handle Hazardous Items During a Move?

Never keep corrosive, flammable, explosive or otherwise hazardous items in a moving truck. Common hazardous items that you should not transport include weed killer, poisons, pesticides, fertilizer, nail polish, liquid bleach and some cleaning solvents. While they may seem harmless sitting in your cupboard, such materials can become highly explosive in certain environments.

You can give most of your hazardous items to family and friends prior to your residential move. For any remaining items, contact your city or county for information about how and where to dispose of hazardous materials.
