National Van Lines Names CDL Driver Marco Serrano Its 2026 Household Goods Top Driver

Broadview, Ill. | October 28, 2026 — National Van Lines, a long distance moving company headquartered in Broadview, Illinois, has named CDL driver Marco Serrano its 2026 Household Goods (HHG) Top Driver. Based in Chula Vista, California, Serrano has driven for National Van Lines for three years and has held his CDL for 37 years.

For Serrano, life on the road runs in the family. His grandfather drove trucks, and several of his uncles followed in his footsteps. One uncle became a mechanic and often let a young Serrano sit behind the wheel of big rigs while they came in for alignments.

“I thought that was the coolest thing in the world,” Serrano recalls. “So, I guess it’s in my genes.”

As a young man, Serrano saw a television commercial for a truck driving school and decided to enroll. He earned his commercial driver’s license and never looked back.

Over his nearly four decades of driving, he’s developed a simple yet effective approach to success: “Do better every day. Be true to yourself. Be honest, patient, hardworking, of course. Don’t let the bad moments deter you from your goals in life.”

When his schedule allows, Serrano takes the back roads to see what he calls the heart of the United States. His travels have taken him to New Mexico, the Grand Canyon, the plains of Wyoming, the Florida Everglades and the monuments of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Along the way, he has attended a Washington Commanders game and a Chicago Cubs game, toured the Green Bay Packers stadium and watched Formula 1 racing in Austin, Texas.

“You have this big window in front of you to look at and try to absorb the beauty of the places that you’ve been to,” Serrano says of his experiences on the road. “It’s been a fun, fun, fun ride.”

Serrano also credits the support he receives from National Van Lines: “National Van Lines is a true drivers’ company. They cater to their drivers. It’s like a family. You call them and they know who you are. You’re not just a number, and they’re always open to help you in any way they can.”

The award, which Serrano received at the awards ceremony during the biennial National Van Lines Agent Summit from Oct. 7-9, 2026, celebrates the hard work, resilience and commitment that define excellence in the moving industry.

“Marco is a one-of-a-kind driver,” says Laura Manning, Vice President of Customer Service and Operations. “He’s hardworking, dedicated and always makes sure customers have the best experience possible. Our customers agree, because we’ve seen a lot of five-star reviews in the past three years that praised his service. It’s a joy to get to work with him.”

As for what comes next, Serrano already has his sights set on another award. “Being a top driver, it’s a great feeling,” he says. “The ultimate goal, I guess, is to get recognized as being one of the best, and I hope I can do it again.”
