Should I Tip my Movers?

Tipping is not expected in the moving industry. If you think that your movers have performed exceptionally well, feel free to tip them accordingly. On the other hand, if you find your experience less than satisfactory, you are not obligated to tip your movers.

If you decide to tip, typical amounts range from approximately 5 percent of the total bill for a local move to as much as $200 per person for a large multi-day, cross-country moves. In the end, you should decide your tip amount based on your satisfaction with the service.

When multiple people have contributed to your move, you should tip each worker individually. If you notice that a few movers stood out for their hard work during the process, feel free to give them a slightly larger tip; otherwise, split the tip equally among the team. You can also always show your movers that you appreciate their hard work by offering them cold drinks or other refreshments at the end of a long moving day.
