Customer Testimonials
I had a great moving experience with Allen/Allan. He was very quick and efficient. However, I did not appreciate my agent/moving company not being proactive in getting parking permits for my move. With a bit of research, they could have acquired it and added it to my bill instead of threatening to charge me $4,000 extra dollars to put my items in storage since they did not get the permits. It should not be on the customer to get the permits.
Overall we had our stuff come by the end of the destined period of time. Unfortunately, our stuff were not wrapped well . we ended up losing our TV screen to an inadequate wrapping. The screen was unloaded literally with no wrap whatsoever. Many boxes was re-taped. I was under the impression that they will take our stuff directly in the same van to its destination but I came to learn that they hired another company to transfer from a warehouse where our things were dumped there.
I would recomm end you do your own wrapping, and search before hiring the company. It is not worth paying a penny for insurance, because they only cover damages more than a 1 thousand dollars. If you can avoid moving across the nation with big stuff with NVL maybe safer, a shorter move may have less likelihood of missing your things. Do not rely on them wrapping or boxing. Invest in good boxes of your own.
All of the people that we spoke with at NVL and it affiliates couldnt be nicer and more helpful. We had to move sooner than expected and needed to rely on friends to help as we were already out of state. Everyone at NVL was extremely helpful and wanting to make the move as stress-free as possible.
However, our items arrived there were several problems. First, a wooden sculpture was never wrapped and thus arrived damaged. It is a unique piece made especially for us and is irreplaceable le. Also, there was supposed to be a specially married box with the parts to our treadmill and elliptical; however, the box was not kept separate and so we have a delay until those pieces of equipment can be put together.
I was also told that several other items were not wrapped. As our house is still being renovated I will be unable to see all the items moved to our new house until the beginning of April. At that time I will have a better idea if there are other items not properly wrapped.
Loading day the weather was extremely bad, but they work through that which was difficult, but there was not enough room on the tractor and trailer to fit all of my stuff so they ended up taking it back to the hub and re-packing some of the stuff, and when it was delivered to me, I lost two shelves to my armoire 21X52 3/4 thick I have somebody to make me new ones $350 One of my mechanical beds was missing one of the power reducers I found it on Amazon four $19.50 for paying $8300 I think I shoul d. Ive got all my stuff delivered to me.
I had a great experience with Eric Wright throughout the entire process. He was awesome and made me feel so confident in my move. I would rate his performance more than 5 stars if I could. Unfortunately, the rest of my experience was not great. National Van Lines moved my items into a storage unit in Columbus prior to moving out to California. The movers who completed that portion of the move did not wrap furniture appropriately, thus leaving my furniture dusty and some damaged. They moved every thing into the storage unit carelessly and stacked things that should not have been stacked- for example, my wardrobe boxes were completely crushed down by the time they came to California, my sofa was not wrapped and now it is stained, and my . They showed 0 care and consideration for my items. Then came the move out to California. Dan did not appear to be physically (and questionably mentally) capable of moving anything. He had 1 guy there to assist him who was fantastic. I would give his part ner Eric out here 5 stars. Dan did not create an accurate ledger of my items in Columbus. He simply wrote "poorly" for numerous boxes so that when the time came for me to note items that were missing, there was no way to track which boxes those were. He insisted that there was no way he delivered my items to someone else's home, and yet he had delivered two items that were not mine to me, insisting they were mine even though I told him I did not recognize them. He was wildly unprofessional- sat at my dining table without asking, smelled of smoke, was coughing excessively, and refused to leave until I signed off that he had delivered all of my items when in fact he hadn't. He brought in one of my tables broken, and claimed it was wobbly to begin with, when my mom (who met him in Columbus) said he never mentioned that to her. He claimed the knob on my expensive media stand was crooked to my mom (that it was like that before), but he told me a story that one of his movers in Columbus bump ed it with their hand when loading it onto the truck. I am grateful for Eric Wright and his professional nature. He was fantastic to work with, communicated clearly, and was able to get my items shipped out to California much earlier than expected. My experience with the physical movers was so poor that I would give them 0 stars if I could. I am wildly disappointed with both the move into the storage unit and the move out to California. I have filed a claim for my missing items, but I am not hol ding my breath that they will be found. Unfortunately, because the movers were so poor, I would highly recommend someone not use National Van Lines even though Eric Wright was amazing to work with.
